17th August 2013

Wind Direction: SSW

Surf / Sea State: Chest high waves
Air Temperature: 17
Sea Temperature: 16
Weather: Drizzle

Distance Covered:

After dithering over the forecast and whether Newgale or Broadhaven would be better or whether to stay home in the dry, I settled on Broadhaven. Windguru was spot on this time, SSW and increasing through the day. Some nice waves - head high in the sets in the afternoon. 5.3 to 4.2 m sails in use. Rain not too bad - a fine drizzle most of the time. Struggled a bit to get any speed down the line - wind was varying a bit from cross to cross-on - other sailors were turning down wind then staying on the wave with the sail right open before carving round to hit a section - I think I was turning out onto the flat and losing the wave. A good day overall.

Reports from Newgale were that it was pretty big, lots of white water and then further breaking waves out back.
